Meet Mucha Mlingo

Executive Coach, Consultant, and Budding Saxophonist

What inspires your work as a coach?

I believe sustainable leadership growth starts on the inside. Rather than offering advice or quick fixes, I partner with leaders to build deeper self-awareness, challenge limiting assumptions, and develop practical habits that translate insight into everyday leadership, grounded in curiosity, reflection, accountability, and evidence-based practice.

I pay close attention to both the individual and the wider system in which they lead, recognizing that lasting change happens when personal growth and organizational context are considered together. Above all, I strive to create an environment where leaders feel safe enough to think differently and supported enough to take meaningful action.

Tell us a little more about you...

I'm an executive coach, leadership consultant, and founder of PTS Africa, where I partner with senior leaders and organizations to build emotionally intelligent leadership, strengthen organizational culture, and create sustainable high performance. With a background spanning financial services, organizational psychology, leadership development, and executive coaching, I bring both commercial insight and deep human understanding to my work.

For more than a decade, I've coached executives, developed leadership teams, and designed transformational learning experiences that help leaders navigate complexity, lead through change, and build healthier workplace cultures. My work combines neuroscience, emotional intelligence, and evidence-based coaching to create practical, lasting behavior change rather than short-lived inspiration.

I believe leadership begins with self-awareness, and I help leaders understand how their thinking, emotions, values, and behaviors influence the people around them so they can make wiser decisions and lead with greater courage and intention. My clients appreciate my ability to balance warmth with challenge, and I create psychologically safe conversations that help them uncover assumptions and move confidently toward meaningful action.

I'm also an internationally recognized keynote speaker who has addressed leadership audiences across Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Asia, challenging them to think differently about performance, culture, and human potential. Whether coaching one executive or designing large-scale leadership development programs, my purpose stays the same: helping leaders become more intentional, more human, and more effective.

What are you currently learning?

I'm a voracious and eclectic reader with an enduring curiosity about leadership, Emotional Intelligence, organizational psychology, wellbeing, and spirituality. Re-reading James Clear's Atomic Habits inspired me to embrace the philosophy of 1% daily improvement, a mindset that shapes both my own growth and the way I partner with leaders.

What are you most proud of?

Helping leaders discover new ways of leading that strengthen both performance and wellbeing. I'm proud to have partnered with leaders across industries, cultures, and continents, facilitated hundreds of leadership development programs, and launched initiatives that make emotional intelligence and mental wellbeing more accessible to organizations and communities. Every engagement is an opportunity to create ripple effects that extend far beyond the individual leader.

What's life like outside of work?

Outside of work, my favorite titles are simply "Mum" and "Chief Sideline Cheerleader." I'm incredibly proud of the two thoughtful, kind young men my boys are becoming, and you'll usually find me cheering from beside the hockey astro, poolside at a water polo meet, or in the audience supporting them. In the spaces between, I'm learning the saxophone, training for my next half-marathon, exploring pottery, and writing my first book.

What's your favorite quote?

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." ~ Viktor E. Frankl
