Meet Kate Butcher

Executive Coach, Facilitator, and Open-Water Swimmer

What inspires your work as a coach?

I’m inspired by the magic that happens in deep, meaningful conversations. I create a safe space for my clients to explore both the spoken and unspoken, paying close attention to the energy and presence we bring to the room. People often tell me I have a calming presence that allows us to uncover deeper truths and identify ways to move forward with clarity and confidence.

What’s your coaching superpower?

I bring a unique blend of business acumen and people-centered leadership to every engagement. My background in the Tech industry, combined with my Master’s in Organizational Systems, enables me to address complex systemic issues while honoring the individual needs of my clients. I lead with curiosity and a light touch, helping clients navigate challenges and unlock their potential.

What’s your professional background?

  • Education: Master of Arts in Organizational Systems from Saybrook University.

  • Experience:

    • More than 20 years in business, non-profits, and community leadership.

    • Former Marketing Director at Microsoft, leading global teams in the UK and the US.

    • Leadership Development Manager and Director of Coaching for international consulting firms and tech startups.

    • Executive coach to senior leaders, CEOs, and teams across industries, including tech, healthcare, transportation, and non-profits.

    • Designed and facilitated leadership programs for clients like Microsoft, Delta Dental, Alaska Airlines, and Groupon, with seamless adaptation to virtual delivery since 2020.

What are you currently learning?

I’m exploring the Neuroscience of Change, which is fascinating and deeply informs my coaching approach. I’m also re-reading Your Body Is Your Brain by Amanda Blake—an inspiring book that connects the physical and emotional aspects of leadership. For fun, I’ve been reading The Man Who Swam the Amazon after meeting Martin Strel on a swim trip in Slovenia.

What are you most proud of?

Reinvention. I’ve transitioned from computer programmer to business leader to executive coach and facilitator while living in three different countries. I’m also proud of my work with a community leadership non-profit, where I help develop leaders from government, businesses, and non-profits.

What’s life like outside of work?

I love open-water swimming—whether in a lake or the ocean, all year round. It’s my happy place to relax, challenge myself, and connect with nature. When I’m not swimming, you’ll find me walking my dog, traveling with my family, or volunteering in my community.

What’s your leadership philosophy?

Leadership starts with being, not just doing. I focus on being fully present, paying attention to my senses, and adjusting as needed. This intentionality helps me guide clients to show up as their best selves, both for their teams and their organizations.

I’m committed to creating a space where clients feel supported and energized to explore new possibilities. By combining my business expertise, leadership insights, and coaching skills, I help clients uncover meaningful and sustainable pathways to success.
